What no one told you about Pakistan
Pioneers of Pop Music - Vital Signs.

Was just checking up on my songs list and realized that the one band who’s songs have been downloaded repeatedly and the most are “Vital Signs” .. That is when I realized, is there any band half as good as them?

Their songs were to the point, sweet, catchy and made you fall in love with them again and again .. Every song of theirs held a meaning and an inspiration. To this date, there have been so many artists singing about lost love, suiciding. But did any of them inspire someone heart broken? Vital Signs sing about love, and the possibility of losing it. But with the soothing voice of Junaid Jamshed, you feel a living to the moment kind of a person. Get it?

And ofcourse, who’s going to ignore the love able features of Junaid Jamshed? He was today’s Atif Aslam or Bilal Khan I must say. If I was old enough, I would have swooned after him and stalked him every night on internet. And the plus point, his voice. How can someone not die after a voice like his? Even now, after all these years, his Nasheeds’ are beautiful (Yes, he doesn’t sing anymore.) Mera Dil Badal De remains my favorite Naat of all times! (Especially after I heard him live..)

How can one not like the band after a song like Aitebaar or Maula? The music is beautiful (Which further explains why Rohail Hyatt has produced something as good as Coke Studio.)

Their first hit, Dil Dil Pakistan, became  the third most popular song of all times (By BBC). And then came the rush of Vital Signs 1, 2, Aitebaar and Hum Tum. Every album forming one record or the other. Vital Signs performed ambitious and bold covers of western bands like Pink Floyd and Rush. They emerged when all Pop bands were emerging and stayed in their place. By the release of their second album itself, they were off to US for a tour making them the first pop band to do so.

There’s so much about this band which is beautiful. I have never liked a band as much as them (Well, Jal was good, but half as good as them.) If there was one band I would love to see reunite, it would be them. Truly motivating and inspiring.

Shoaib Mansoor also directed a mini-drama on the band’s journey featuring themselves. called Dhundhley Raastey(I’m off to watch this right now.)

All I can say is, till date I have not seen any artist or band as good as them. They remain my favorite, no matter how many artists come and go. They will eternally be loved.

Ciao ~
