At the summit (by Sumaira Jajja)
“How can you not be inspired when you are walking every single day of your early life in the shadow of the greatest mountains on planet earth, be it Rakaposhi or Nanga Parbat?” says Nazir Sabir.
Sitting in a crowded lobby of a local hotel, it might seem hard to distinguish Sabir from average middle aged Pakistani men but what sets him apart from others is his resolve for climbing and the laurels he brought to the country in the niche sport of mountaineering.
From sharing camaraderie and climbing with one of the greatest climbers in the world, Reinhold Messner, to scaling the Everest, the path Sabir chose not only defied convention, but also proved to be an inspiration to many all over the world.
Born in a small hamlet called Ramanji in Chiporsun, upper Hunza, Sabir says he was fascinated by the stories about the ‘big mountains’ which porters from that area shared. (Complete article)

Trango Towers, Pakistan

The Trango Towers are located in the Baltistan area of Pakistan. At the end of the Baltoro Glacier, the towers offer some of the most challenging rock climbing and dramatic cliffs in the world. The highest point is Great Trango Tower at a height of 6,286 m. The east face of the tower hold the world record for the greatest nearly vertical drop in the world. The towers are also a popular spot for BASE jumpers but again, since the towers are so steep, they have a very difficult ascent. Just seeing these towers would be simply breathtaking. I couldn’t even imagine jumping off one!

Timelapse: Lahore to Islamabad via GT Road with some retro music

Drove from Lahore to Islamabad on 17th Feb 2012, and decided to take the historic Grand Trunk Road with a Canon 7D mounted in the back and some retro Pakistani music from late 60s to complement that.

I would probably end up using this in some larger project later, but for now - enjoy!
