Malaysia to set up center to honour Dr Atta-ur-Rehman
A top Malaysian university will set up a research institute to honour prominent Pakistani scientist Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman.
The “Atta-ur-Rahman Institute of Natural Product Discovery (RiND)” will be inaugurated at the University of Teknologi Mara (UiTM) on March 4, 2013, during an International Conference on Natural Products, where Rehman is being invited as a guest of honour to deliver the keynote speech for the “Jack Cannon Lecture”.
The UiTM had awarded Rehman an honorary doctorate degree in 2011 and RiND is another accolade for the scientist.
“The RiND will will work on full-fledged PhD programs in fields such as organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, neuroscience, proteomics, pharmacology, pharmacognosy and molecular medicine with a special focus on the bioactive constituents of terrestrial plants and marine sources,” Rehman said while speaking to Dawn.com. They were in KL at the VIMA awards recently to pick up their clean sweep of the Indiego music awards for the categories they were nominated for.

Qayaas recently took home all the major awards at the Indiego Music Awards, the first South Asian Music Awards, where they won Best Rock Group, Best Rock Song and also Best Rock Vocalist.
They were also voted Best Act among their peers. Over the years, Qayaas has accumulated a growing number of accolades and achievements including winning Best Rock Band from Pakistan at the JD Aawards (organized by Jaxk Daniels and Rolling Stones Magazine India) and the first band from Pakistan to perform at one of the biggest and most prestigious Music Festivals in USA called SXSW (South By Southwest) which takes place every year in Austin, Texas.
They are currently nominated for Album of the Year for USS PAAR at the Prestigious Lux Style Awards 2012.

Pakistan breeze past India at the Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament, 3-1 at the Azlan Shah stadium in Ipoh, Malaysia. At half time, India led 1-0 but things changed in the second half when Pakistan forced India to take a backseat and score the three goals.
Pakistani Squash players Farhan and Aamir were very eager to keep the legacy of Hashim Khan, Azam Khan, Roshan Khan, Mo Khan, Qamar Zaman, Jahangir Khan, and Jansher Khan by winning the Gold.
