Exposing oppression of women in the backdrop of religious extremism, a 45-minute highly symbolic play titled ‘Hond Unhond’ or ‘Being and Nothingness’ was staged at National Art Gallery (NAG) on Thursday night.
Produced by Punjab Lok Rahs, Multan/Lahore, the drama is part of month-long ongoing National Drama Festival-2009, being organised by Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
Written by Lakht Pasha and directed by Qaiser Abbas, the play addresses international terrorism, religious radicalism and feudalism. It highlights the attitudes of third-world societies towards women empowerment and efforts of women to get their rights.
‘Hond Unhond’ received acclaim from the audience because of its unique subject. The play was a loud criticism of religious intolerance and advocated interfaith harmony.
What not many people know is that in CERN’s very popular initiative to find the “God Particle” or simply the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s biggest science experiment and also apparatus, Pakistan has played a very important role in making it a reality from the very start.
